Tax Manager – Public Accounting
Location: Federal Way, Washington
Salary: $130,000-$150,000 (depending on experience)
Working Arrangement: Office-based initially, with hybrid working available following successful onboarding
About the Opportunity:
An established and highly regarded public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing tax practice.
This position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of clients while providing both tax compliance and strategic advisory services. You will work closely with privately held businesses and individual clients, building long-term relationships and supporting junior team members through mentoring and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of individual and business tax engagements.
- Prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns.
- Review work completed by junior team members and provide coaching and technical guidance.
- Advise clients on tax planning strategies and opportunities to minimise tax liabilities.
- Research and resolve complex federal and state tax issues.
- Support clients with entity structuring, business planning and multistate tax matters.
- Build trusted relationships with business owners and individual clients.
- Manage engagement budgets, workflow and deadlines.
- Mentor and develop junior tax professionals.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should possess:
- Minimum five years’ public accounting tax experience.
- Active CPA licence or currently working towards qualification.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
- Excellent knowledge of federal and state taxation.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring team members.
- Outstanding communication and client relationship skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Experience using professional tax software is advantageous but not essential.
