About the Opportunity
RI Talent Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a leading public accounting firm seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its specialist Automotive Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with significant experience advising automotive dealerships and dealer groups. The successful candidate will lead tax compliance, planning and consulting engagements while acting as a trusted adviser to clients on a broad range of operational and strategic tax matters.
Working within a collaborative and highly respected tax practice, you will play a key role in managing client relationships, leading engagement teams and supporting the continued growth of the automotive tax practice.
The Role
As Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of dealership clients, providing commercially focused tax advice and ensuring the highest standards of technical delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading tax compliance, planning and consulting engagements for automotive dealerships and dealer groups.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of dealership operations, including departmental performance and back-office functions.
- Advising clients on tax and commercial matters including cash flow optimisation, inventory management, cost containment, reinsurance, financing and capitalisation.
- Reviewing complex tax returns and supporting documentation to ensure technical accuracy and identify planning opportunities.
- Researching complex tax legislation and providing practical, commercially focused recommendations.
- Leading client meetings and presenting technical advice in a clear and accessible manner.
- Managing engagement workflow, budgets, staffing, deadlines and profitability.
- Working closely with colleagues across multiple service lines to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and advising clients on their commercial impact.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing junior tax professionals.
- Building long-term client relationships while supporting business development and networking initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- CPA, J.D., LL.M. or Master’s degree in Taxation.
- A minimum of five years’ public accounting tax experience.
- Significant experience advising automotive dealerships and dealer groups.
- Strong understanding of dealership operations and the automotive retail sector.
- Proven experience managing multiple client engagements, budgets and deadlines.
- Excellent technical tax research and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Previous leadership, mentoring and people management experience.
- The ability to develop long-term client relationships and contribute to business development.
- Experience using professional tax and accounting software.
