RI Talent is recruiting on behalf of an established and growing public accounting firm based in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
 
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Tax Supervisor to join its expanding tax practice. This opportunity is ideal for a technically skilled professional who enjoys developing client relationships, managing tax engagements and mentoring junior team members.
 
The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing tax engagements, ensuring technical accuracy and delivering high-quality advisory and compliance services to a diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise tax engagements in accordance with professional standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate and schedule tax engagements, managing client expectations and internal resources.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of tax returns, supporting schedules and working papers.
  • Undertake technical tax research and provide guidance on complex taxation matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams regarding engagement progress, opportunities and potential issues.
  • Provide training, mentoring and technical oversight to junior and intermediate team members.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge across relevant tax legislation and industry specialisations.
  • Manage a portfolio of client engagements, including budgets, productivity targets and service delivery.
  • Support tax consulting assignments and special projects as required.

 
Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience within a public accounting firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US federal and state taxation.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing tax returns and supervising tax engagements.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements, budgets and deadlines.
  • Strong client relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and commercially aware.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, ProSystem fx Tax, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $105,000 – $125,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
